Free the Dalits

Phil Hotsenpiller is involved in an effort to “Free the Dalits” of India. The Dalits are also known as the “untouchables” or “outcastes,” with a population of 250 million people. According to global research and reports, the Dalits constitute the largest number of people categorized as victims of modern day slavery. In cooperation with Friends Church, Yorba Linda, Operation Mobilization India and Operation Mercy, 1,000 schools will be built to provide education and free the Dalit children of India.

International Freedom

Currently, Phil Hotsenpiller is Executive Director of the not-for-profit International Freedom (IF). IF is working with its partners to build 200 education centers for Dalit children and 200 vocational training centers for Dalit women throughout India.

Using the power of documentary film, IF also seeks to raise awareness of the plight of the Dalit people among Hollywood “influencers” in order to bring about lasting change. IF’s acclaimed documentary, DELETES, was selected to compete in the Artivist Film Festival and the HollyShorts Film Festival, where it earned the Audience Choice Award. In addition, IF has recruited more than a one thousand volunteers to serve urban Los Angeles, feeding the homeless and creating after-school programs and health clinics.
